Erya is a Community Interest Company with an excellent reputation for delivering innovative, professional, responsive, and effective services to individuals and organisations in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to deliver real change to peoples lives.
Erya, the Cornish word for challenge and to fly in the face of, is a Community Interest Company and was set up in 2015 by Debbie Thomas nee Gillham and Samantha Barnett after our department was made redundant. Part of our role was developing Time for Change a group of people with the Label of a Learning Disability to co-produce, co-deliver and evaluate training.
So, as you can imagine, the redundancy didn’t just affect us it effected the group so when they asked ‘what are we going to do now’ Debbie and I looked at each other thought good question and threw it straight back – “what are we going to do?” and so Erya was born.
Our Peer Educators and Advocates (PA&E) are what makes Erya unique and they are our biggest assets. They tell us what they want and what their peers want. They inspire us, their experiences and knowledge shape our service.
